London CNN —Shares in Tesla plunged as much as 11% after the market opened Thursday, wiping $73 billion off the company’s market value hours after it warned of slowing growth in electric car sales and an existential threat from Chinese rivals. While it reported a sizeable 38% increase in deliveries last year compared with 2022, Tesla had previously targeted a 50% annual growth rate averaged over several years. At the time, investors were worried about the outlook for Tesla’s sales and profitability, as well as the health of the US economy. Dan Ives, an analyst with market research firm Wedbush, said Tesla’s earnings call provided investors with “minimal answers” to the company’s shrinking margins. China’s BYD beat Tesla in the final three months of last year, selling more cars than Elon Musk’s carmaker for the first time.

Indeed, studies show that drinking alcohol is less in vogue with younger millennials and Gen Z. Mounting concern around weight loss drugs GLP-1 drugs, which mimic the action of the glucagon-like peptide-1 hormone and stimulate insulin secretion after a meal, lower blood sugar and send feeling of fullness to the brain. What's more, GLP-1 drugs are an overwhelmingly American topic, with most Europeans unaware of them or unwilling to pay high prices. In total, GLP-1 users are only a very small slice of total alcohol consumers, said Spiros Malandrakis, lead alcohol industry researcher at Euromonitor International. The most vulnerable purveyors are those that are trailing the shift in consumption, notably domestic, non-premium beer brands.

NEW YORK, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Shares of Fisker Inc (FSR.N) fell by more than 24% to an all-time low on Tuesday after the electric-vehicle startup slashed its production targets as it struggles to ramp up deliveries. Multiple Wall Street analysts, including from Barclays, Evercore and Cowen, slashed their price target on Fisker's shares after its revised production forecast. The median price target of the 14 analysts covering the stock is $6.50, down from $8 a month ago, and their current recommendation is "hold", according to LSEG data. Unlike other EV makers, Fisker has outsourced its vehicle production to Canadian auto part supplier Magna International (MG.TO). Nelson reiterated his "strong sell" rating and halved his 12-month price target from $2 to $1.

REUTERS/Lucy Nicholson/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsOct 5 (Reuters) - Constellation Brands (STZ.N) raised its annual profit target on Thursday after higher prices and strong demand for its beers and spirits drove a sales and profit beat in the second quarter. Alcohol producers such as Constellation and peer Brown-Forman (BFb.N) have benefited from increasing prices, helping offset steeper raw material costs. Constellation also raised the annual sales forecast for its beer business. It is the second time in less than a year that Rivian is issuing such a green bond, which raises capital from investors seeking to back climate-focused projects. The company had issued a $1.3 billion convertible green bond in March to support the launch of its smaller R2 vehicle family. The company beat estimates in the third quarter by producing 16,304 vehicles and delivering 15,564 vehicles to customers. As of Sept. 30, Rivian had about $9.1 billion in cash on its balance sheet, down from $10.2 billion in June. The current median price target for the 24 analysts covering Rivian's shares is $30, with a "buy" recommendation, LSEG data showed.

The UAW began striking at factories that make only a few vehicles – Ford Broncos and Rangers, Jeep Wranglers, Chevrolet mid-size pickups and GMC vans. Car prices were rising long before the auto workers even raised the possibility of a strike. Prices are almost certain to rise even if the strike is settled quickly, because the auto makers' labor costs will increase. “They could double our wages and not raise car prices and still make billions of dollars in profit,” he said during an online presentation to union members this week. It's all enough to make many motorists consider avoiding the car lot and keeping their current car a while longer.

And now, Shawn Fain is representing nearly 150,000 auto workers in one of the biggest labor strikes in decades. Referring to Biblical scripture, Fain asked union members: "Are you willing to have faith and move that mountain? The Wednesday before contract expiration, he said UAW members must fight for a better contract "by any means necessary" - one of Malcolm X's most quoted phrases. That six-week strike cost GM $3.6 billion and stressed the finances of UAW members. Company executives have said the UAW's demands will make them uncompetitive as the shift to EVs offsets the profits delivered by the combustion trucks UAW members build.

Sept 11 (Reuters) - A prolonged coordinated strike by the United Auto Workers (UAW) union against the Detroit Three automakers could cut production by thousands, potentially pushing up vehicle prices and exacerbating supply-chain disruptions, analysts said. New vehicle prices may rise by less than 2% if the strike lasts about two weeks, according to automotive consulting firm J.D. That would mean an end to the trend of cooling vehicle prices in recent months, at a time when inflation continues to pinch U.S. consumers. However, UAW president Shawn Fain rejected the idea that worker wages were responsible for auto prices going up in the last few years. In a video released on Thursday titled "Here's what the Big Three and the corporate media's NOT telling you about car prices," Fain said "corporate greed" was responsible for rising car prices.

Most of the supply chain has now come through out of the COVID era," CEO Peter Rawlinson told Reuters. Although logistics and labor costs have come down, there was a "significant amount of opportunity" to cut costs further, she said. Lucid on Monday reported revenue in the April-June period of $150.9 million, missing estimates of $175 million, according to seven analysts polled by Refinitiv. Cash stood at $2.78 billion at the end of June, compared with $900 million three month prior. Lucid is set to unveil its Gravity SUV in November ahead of its launch in 2024.

The company says it will reach 400,000 cumulative units of EV production by early 2024 and that its EV business will reach profitability by 2025. "They have dozens of EV models over the next two to three years. watch nowAmong analysts who believe the stock is due for a bigger drop, expected EV sales disappointment is among the factors. July 26 (Reuters) - Coca-Cola Co (KO.N) raised its annual revenue and profit forecasts after beating quarterly results on the back of higher pricing, with demand for its sodas remaining resilient at a time when consumers are cutting back on non-essential spending. Earlier this month, rival PepsiCo (PEP.O) also raised its annual revenue and profit forecasts for a second time this year after beating second-quarter results, easing worries over a slowdown in demand due to price hikes. Coca-Cola's average selling prices rose 10% in the second quarter, while in North America volumes declined 1%, showing little impact to demand with overall unit case volumes remaining flat. Coca-Cola forecast full-year core earnings per share to rise between 5% and 6%, compared with previous expectation of a 4% to 5% increase. GM said adjusted pre-tax profit and margins in its key North American market fell from the first quarter, despite a jump in revenue and per-vehicle transaction prices. GM said it now expects full-year net income of $9.3 billion to $10.7 billion, up from a previous forecast of $8.4 billion to $9.9 billion. GM's pre-tax profit margin for the first six months of the year fell to 8.3% of revenue, down from 8.9% a year ago. Barra said GM can cut capital spending by simplifying its product line, reducing the number of different combinations of colors and features offered. In the first half, GM built about 50,000 EVs, most of them the older Bolt model, which is priced from $27,495.

Although full-calorie options still dominate the soda segment, diet sodas now represent more than a quarter of sales. Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Pepsi Zero Sugar and Diet Mountain Dew all contain aspartame. For most adults, that means drinking less than nine to 14 cans of diet soda every day. Even so, Edward Jones analyst Brittany Quatrochi said she isn't expecting a big hit to diet soda sales. Besides diet sodas, aspartame can also be found in a variety of foods, including breakfast cereals, chewing gum and ice cream.

Tesla, which had previously stopped the referral program as it was too expensive, up to now has focused on real-time adjustments to prices posted on its websites. It revived the referral program recently to boost sales, analysts said. The EV sales market globally has become more competitive, forcing automakers to cut prices or boost incentives in several markets. The automaker has used its industry-leading profit margins as a weapon in the EV price war, putting pressure on both legacy automakers as well as cash-strapped EV startups. A number of Tesla owners in China posted their referral codes online and invited others to use them.

Several consumer industry trade bodies - whose members use aspartame - on Thursday rejected the IARC’s assessment. Shoppers can find aspartame in Weight Watchers yoghurts, some Snapple drinks and Conagra’s Mrs. Butterworth’s syrups. “Aspartame has been in use as an intense sweetener for more than 30 years in the UK. In 2014 General Mills (GIS.N) swapped the aspartame in Yoplait Light for the sweetener widely known as Splenda. Sweeteners have varying levels of sweetness and price, and are different chemical compounds, making it difficult to simply swap ingredients.
